Description
Dark roast blend of African origins
Our 2024 signature dark roast blend is a Tanzania blend of Arabica (+-75%) and Robusta (+-25%) coffees
Production
Tanzania’s coffee production is about seventy percent Arabica and thirty percent Robusta, so this dark roast is an ode to the country’s coffee industry – along with it’s full-bodied rich and smooth mouth feel, dark cocoa and nut flavours and clean finish.
The Arabica is from Songea, the southern part of Tanzania, close to Lake Malawi.
Altitude: 1100 – 1300 m.a.s.l.
Sub-region: Songea, Southern Highlands
Bean Size: Screen 18
The Robusta is from the Kagera region in the northwest, close to the Uganda border. This is often thought to be the first varietal of coffee brought to Tanzania in the 16th Century by the Haya people. It became part of Tanzanian culture, but was rather boiled, smoked and then chewed – rather than brewed into a drink!
